Cleevewold

Ran a good race and gave it a fair go. But the legs lacked punch on the climbs and my energy faded away towards the end.  I could have done with a gel I reckon.

Rather than push myself too hard, I eased off and cruised in for the last couple of miles - I have to watch it these days being an iron man and all that (different post to follow).  So despite the disappointment of losing places at the end I was pleased with how I managed my run.

31st. 14th MV40.

I was like cheap lager: cool and fizzy to start off with but warm and flat by the end.

Hail sandwich

Set off from Mike's to recce the Cleevewold under bright blue skies. There was really heavy hail half way round which, as Mike said, was exactly what we love about doing stuff outdoors. Fortunately I had a coat with a hood so was able to love it a bit more easily...
An eighteen mile circuit overall which for me ended up with a bad case of cramps on the final descent. Still a fine run though. Wish I'd tooken a camera.

Mynd over matter

In preparation for the cleevewold, I took a trip upto Shropshire and hauled my sorry carcass round the Valleys route.  It had been a few years since my last visit. Things hadn't got any easier.  Funnily enough the only time I had to get the map out because i'd lost my recollection was  when I came across a bit of road.

The sun shone. The wind blew and tugged at the grass. The lovely batch streams were as clear as the sky above.
